Mão de Vaca com Grão (Cows Hoof with Chickpeas)

This dish is considered to have originated in the Ribatejo region, and it came to be adopted by true aficionados of traditional Portuguese cuisine from the north to the south of the country. 

In Mafra Municipality, there are references to this recipe (in Malveira, particularly on fair days) since the end of the 18th century. Currently, it is possible to find throughout the Mafra region innumerable recreational associations and clubs that serve this substantial snack on days of social events, but there are also several restaurants that prepare it masterfully.
